Police are investigating after the terrifying attack.

An elderly woman is shaken after being tied to a chair and threatened during a robbery in Palmerston North.

The incident occurrent on Church St, between Victoria Ave and Albert St, between 9am and 9:30am.

One male entered. He’s been described as wearing a dark “silky” zipped jacket and dark pants. He was about 178cm tall.

After the robbery, the man left in the woman’s car, a red Toyota Corolla.

He also took the woman’s bank card.

While the woman was scared, she was not hurt. She was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Police are investigating and ask anyone who saw a vehicle matching the description, or any suspicious behaviour in the area this morning, to contact Palmerston North Police on (06) 351 3600.
